Cara Falco, LMSW
Therapist and Heartwood Program Associate Director
Cara Falco grew up in Montgomery County and has been inspired to participate as an active member of her community by joining the helping profession. A graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Social Work, Cara has joined the Heartwood Program in a dual role, engaging in direct client care as a Psychotherapist and acting as the administrative Associate Director of the Heartwood Program. Cara specializes in substance use disorders and offers substance abuse services to clients in need, in addition to her psychodynamic approach to individual, group, and family work with clients within the Heartwood Program.
Cara takes pride in her hard work and dedication to helping clients towards recovery. In recognition of her devotion to clinical work, Cara was awarded the University of Maryland, School of Social Work Exemplary Clinical Student of the Year for 2021. As a SUDIF (Substance Use Disorder Interventions Fellowship) Fellow at the University of Maryland, Cara engaged in training to better serve and aid clients that are experiencing difficulty with alcohol use, drug use, and other addictive behaviors. Cara is open to working with clients with a variety of concerns such as substance use disorder, comorbidity, substance misuse challenges, depression, anxiety, and challenges with mood. She believes in the importance of understanding the client in their environment and takes a holistic approach towards helping someone on their wellness journey. Cara is motivated to put this perspective and her training into motion with the Heartwood Program.
