New Babies Parent Process Group
Becoming a parent can be filled with mixed emotions. It’s a time of joy and discovery, but it can also be isolating and exhausting, and often triggers mental health issues and other challenges. The purpose of this process group is to provide a safe and supportive environment for parents with new babies (ages two weeks to one year). This group will offer a safe space for parents to seek emotional support while facilitating exploration and processing of issues that arise with bringing a new baby home. The group will focus on the challenges of parenting, including those associated with changing household roles, functioning with sleep deprivation, body issues, guilt and fears, impacts on social and work life, and anything else. The group will be led and facilitated by a psychotherapist and mother of two, who understands the practical challenges of becoming a parent as well as the clinical aspects of processing and offering support for mental health needs of all participants.
